What I think Montage is means in his quote at the end of the
book is there are two sides to this war, the burning of knowledge and the means
of wanting to keep knowledge. But people are only seeing the flames. People are
becoming relaxed and having acceptance of this madness, not knowing there could
be a change in this system; but in a time where people are only knowable of their
materialistic things, and there selfishness. These worshipers have and make no
time to worry about what’s right for the nearest future. I feel Montage thinks
through the flames of knowledge there is a phoenix to rise from the ashes of burned
books. If this is right, I think Montages thoughts are on the verge of a
rebellion towards the healing of this nation.
